Document History

DocView Web tracks every significant action performed on a document, creating a comprehensive audit trail. The History page lets you review these events to understand who did what and when.

Viewing History

You can access document history in two ways:

  • From a Document Record – Open any document and click the History tab to see the full activity log for that specific document.
  • From the History menu – Navigate to History in the sidebar to see a combined activity log across all documents you have access to (titled “My Usage History” in the application).

Tracked Events

The following events are recorded automatically:

UploadUser, date/time, original filename, file size.
ViewUser, date/time.
DownloadUser, date/time.
Edit MetadataUser, date/time, fields changed, old and new values.
ShareUser, date/time, recipients, share method (email/link).
E-Signature SentUser, date/time, signer name and email.
E-Signature CompletedSigner, date/time of signature.
Workflow TransitionUser, date/time, action taken (Approve/Reject/Complete), workflow step name.
Delete / ArchiveUser, date/time, reason (if provided).

Filtering History

The history view displays events in reverse chronological order (newest first). You can filter by date range, event type, or user name to find specific entries. The search box above the table also supports keyword filtering.

Document history is immutable – entries cannot be edited or deleted by any user, ensuring a reliable audit trail for compliance purposes.
